This whois interface allows you to retrieve owner and contact information about IP addresses/numbers. Just enter the IP address or number (for example 38.103.63.59) and press "look up". The script will automatically contact the relevant servers and display the information returned.
If you enter a domain or host name, this script will resolve the name to an IP address before performing the whois query. There's a separate whois interface for information about registered domain names; use that interface when you want to find out who is the registered owner of a domain, and this script when you want to find the ISP responsible for the network on which a server is hosted. The latter is somewhat more reliable and useful for dealing with abuse issues.
